Snippets

Posted by allen22 on April 26, 2007

There are so many things I want to write about. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time (and I’m sure you all don’t want to read three full posts) so I will just do snippets to give a flavor of what is on my mind.

1) I bought my car (Audi A4) at a dealership called Sunset Imports. Well, once or twice a year they hire about 20 professional driving instructors from a company called Autosports to teach customers how to really drive their vehicles. This last Tuesday I spent 4 hours at Portland International Speedway (PIR) racing my car around the racetrack as well as an autocross track. I had three 30 minute track sessions with a professional driver coaching me through every corner. I also had three 20 minute autocross sessions. During the autocross I had the opportunity to test my car to the limits both with and without the traction control as well as in wet and dry conditions.  I must say this experience was awesome! I could have had a better time. I learned alot and got to drive my car very hard. It performed magnificently! I took about 4o minutes of video with an in car camera mount so I will get to show of my experience to many friends.

2) This past weekend we went camping with Tonya’s sisters family in Newport. This was our second time out in our new toy hauler. The weather was not the best but we made the best out of it by going to the Aquarium, playing games, and just hanging out.

3) We are starting to prepare for our big summer-kickoff / Cinco-de-Mayo party!  We are inviting a bunch of friends and celebrating with a BBQ and booze extravaganza.

With so much happening it is hard to believe I have time for 50 hours of work a week! Soon I will post pictures of all these fun events but until then you will just have to imagine all the coolness. Now I have to get back to a new book that was recommended by my good friend Josh.  It is listed in my sidebar.

Sold the Talon

Posted by allen22 on April 10, 2007

We sold the ‘95 Eagle Talon today. You may or may not know that this car was my baby for a long time. I had this car through college and afterwards. I did alot of work to it but it became time to move on to a more gas friendly car when I was driving a long distance to work. So I sold it to a friend who soon after messed it up by jumping the timing belt. I took the car back and have been slowly working on it since then. It needs some major engine work, a new head and new valves. Well, we sold it today for 1300. This is less than it is worth but all the same nice to get rid of and nice to have the cash. I think this means a new desktop! That means core two duo, 2 GB ram, 500 GB HD, 19″ LCD, and a sweet video card. I can’t wait!

More Testing

Here is a wonderful picture of our two dogs Belle and Bubba.
Belle and Bubba

I am still playing with this stuff and it is starting to come together. I originally uploaded the full size image and it wouldn’t let me thumbnail it. So I resized the image and thought it would be much better to just show the picture. Recently I have redone my sidebars to include books, video games, and even an RSS feed of my friend Josh’s blog! This week I have been quite successful in working on my blog. As time moves on I will find out how to do more things, mostly by begging Josh to show me. I am also quite busy with work, family and friends so I really should update my blog to reflect all the fun events. Stay posted…

The Inappropriate “You too”

Posted by allen22 on April 5, 2007

So, Millie and Josh, some of our best friends were up for four days this weekend. At our last supper together, at Sweet Tomatoes, we were in line to pay and the cashier said “Have a nice dinner.” Without thinking we said “You too.” Obviously this was not the time to say this. So, out of trying to be considerate we displayed how programmed we are to say nice things. If we truly meant “you too” everytime we said it, it wouldn’t come out at the wrong times. Out of being nice we showed how rude we were because we really didn’t listen to or care about what she said….Just something I have been pondering for a couple days.
